KNIGHTS' CAUSEWAY

Together we will walk along a stretch of the historic “Knights' Causeway”. These paths overlooking the sea were traveled by the Knights of the order of Santo Stefano in charge of defending the coasts from the incursions of Turkish pirates in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. A path where the rugged nature of the cliffs and human events intertwine to tell their story. We will go to the discovery of the defensive tower system of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Principality of Piombino in the territory of Castiglione della Pescaia, while appreciating the tenacious Mediterranean coastal flora and the nesting places of the seagull.
